Comic! Comic!

Ok, sorry - graphic novel if you’re all grow’d up and don’t like to be caught reading comic books.

But look what arrived in my postbox this week from Boom Comics! It’s Farscape Hardcover #2: Strange Detractors!

I already have Farscape Hardcover #1: The Beginning Of The End Of The Beginning. And yay, the story is perfect, and yay, the artwork is… mostly cool. *Ahem*.

But onto book 2: Is it as good on the inside as it looks on the outside? Is the story fab? Is the artwork ace? Is it the most fun I’ve had with a book in my life?

“Can I get a ‘Hell yeah!’?”

Artwork first:

Yeah. Joe Corroney might have given us the outstanding cover, but Wil Sliney proves his genius on the inside. Characters that actually look like the TV people: check. Backgrounds that remind you of the proper painted comics of years gone by: check. Colours so rich you stare at the pages for hours before actually reading the dialogue and getting on with the story: check (thank you, Zac Atkinson).

Writing next:
Story by Rockne S. O’Bannon. Yes. The guy. The dude. The Grand Poobah. The Creator. And as such, God. Script by Keith R.A. DeCandido. Yes. The totally hoopy frood who has whipped The Farscape God’s ideas into the typically funny, saucy, sci-fi, kick-ass, twisty-turny bundle of fun and heroic cock-ups that is just the same as your best and favourite Farscape episodes from the telly.

In fact, screw this review, I’m going to go back and read it again. For the third time since Wednesday.

Peach and lube, people! Peach and frelling lube.
